Steven Seaweed of 107.7 The Bone, the San Francisco Bay Area's rock station, conducted an interview with legendary AEROSMITH guitarist Joe Perry on October 14, 2009. AEROSMITH played their first shows since early August, when an injury to singer Steven Tyler ended the band's summer tour, on Sunday (October 18) in Honolulu and Tuesday (October 20) in Maui, Hawaii. The Maui gig was done partly to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by enraged fans when the band canceled a 2007 concert there. The shows come during a tense time for the veteran act, with Joe Perry claiming in recent interviews that Tyler has not spoken to the rest of the group since breaking his shoulder in a fall from a stage in Sturgis, South Dakota two months ago.Perry, who released a solo effort called "Have Guitar, Will Travel" earlier this month, has indicated in current interviews that Tyler is holding up AEROSMITH's future plans, including the recording of a new album. Perry told the Associated Press that Tyler has "got to get his act together."The Honolulu Advertiser saw no sign of tension between Tyler and Perry on Sunday night, adding that Tyler "took every chance to sidle up next to Perry . . . and declared he 'loved' the guys in the band. Aerosmith officially postpone Canadian tour

Aerosmith have officially announced the postponement of their tour of Western Canada so that frontman Steven Tyler can recover from injuries he sustained after falling off the stage at a concert in South Dakota last week.

Newly rescheduled dates for the cancelled concerts in Winnipeg, Regina, Edmonton, Calgary and Vancouver have not yet been announced.Guitarist Joe Perry told Illinois radio station WXRX he believes it could be anywhere from four weeks to two months until the veteran rockers are able to hit the road again. Tyler broke his left shoulder in the fall and had to receive several stitches in his head.

The Joe Perry Project ( tickets ) kicks off the slate Nov. 10 in New York City, and will hit six cities during the brief outing, which concludes Nov. 21 in Indio, CA. Highlights include a Nov. 14 hometown Boston concert, and a Nov. 19 gig in Windsor, Ontario. Details are included below.
Prior to this week's group of Hawaiian concerts, Aerosmith had been on an unplanned hiatus after Tyler, 61, fell off the stage during an Aug. 5 performance in Sturgis, SD. The singer broke his left shoulder and suffered a cut on his head that required 20 stitches.
Perry has been vocal in his criticism of Tyler since the singer's fall. "I was pretty [upset], because right before that, he had pulled a muscle in his leg, and we had to take two weeks off and we missed probably seven dates," the guitarist told the AP last month.
"All I know is, he's got to get his act together," Perry added. "I mean, he and I haven't written a song together alone in the same room in over 10 years, so there's been some changes in paradigm of what Aerosmith is."
"Have Guitar, Will Travel," Perry's fifth solo album, surfaced earlier this month. The guitarist initially created The Joe Perry Project in 1979 following his departure from Aerosmith, releasing his debut solo album, "Let the Music Do the Talking," in 1980. Perry released two additional albums under the Joe Perry Project name before rejoining Aerosmith in 1984.
Additionally, Perry's self-titled 2005 solo set featured him playing every instrument except drums.

Aerosmith Has Been Taking Fans For Granted, Joe Perry says

To his credit, Joe Perry looks determined these days to shake his bandmates in Aerosmith to their senses. In a new video interview posted on Billboard.com, the guitarist says some members of the band or, rather, one in special have been taking their fans for granted.
"The thing that bothers me the most is how it (time off) affects the fans ….,” Perry told Billboard. “The only reason you're there is because of the fans. You owe them a lot, and when you start taking them for granted it's just wrong.”
Perry continued: "I think that a lot of what happened with Aerosmith over the last two or three years has been a case of that. And I'm not talking about everybody in the band. I think at this point the four band members are willing to not play for a while until the fifth member gets together and decides to come and join us again."
Perry’s comments come on the heels of revelations that he and frontman Steven Tyler haven’t spoken for weeks. Nonetheless, he insists that Aerosmith is nowhere near the point of splitting up.
“Aerosmith is taking a breather,” he said.
The veteran guitarist went on to confirm that Aerosmith will perform at a Formula One race event in the United Arab Emirates on November 1. The group is also scheduled to perform a private concert at a software convention in San Francisco later this week, to be followed by two shows in Hawaii later this month.

Aerosmith's Venezuela gig hobbled by bad knee

Aerosmith's Joe Perry won't be walking this way to Venezuela.

Instead of heading to a Feb. 1 show in Caracas, the 58-year-old lead guitarist detoured to a hospital for emergency knee surgery, forcing the Hall of Fame band to cancel what would have been its first gig in the country.

A band rep says Perry had a total knee replacement last March. But due to complications, he required a second operation, stat.

The "Sweet Emotion" purveyors are planning to reschedule the concert as soon as Perry's bum knee heals and the band has room on its calendar.

“Playing Venezuela was my idea of a perfect way to start the New Year," frontman Steven Tyler said in a statement. "But having heard Joe had to revisit the hospital this month, the band are truly disappointed we can’t be in Caracas, and we hope to see everyone there soon.”
