In Todays Aerosmith Soap Opera, Steven Tyler Returns

Steven Tyler is back with Aerosmith, at least for two shows.

The band has confirmed that they will play, with Tyler, at the Download Festival on June 13.
In a statement for Download, Tyler confirmed his presence saying "In the early days of Aerosmith we were infected with the vibe coming out of the UK with The Yardbirds, Blues Breakers, Pretty Things and the Stones, and we wanted what they had bad. So baby, we¹re coming home. Rock & Roll can be pure sex and we can¹t wait to Download..."

Drummer Joey Krammer also confirmed the reunion via Twitter. “Aerosmith is back,” he wrote.
The sudden disintegration of Aerosmith was indeed bizarre. Tyler fell off stage last October in Hawaii and from then the band has been a continuous soap opera.
Tyler said in an interview soon after that he had left the band saying he was working on “Brand Tyler”.

Then Aerosmith announced they would continue without him and get a new lead singer.
Just recently on January 20, 2010 Joe Perry announced that the band was about to hold auditions for Tyler’s job.
As well as Download, Aerosmith with Tyler will perform at the Sweden Rock Festival on June 10.

Aerosmith's Joe Perry won't be walking this way to Venezuela.Instead of heading to a Feb. 1 show in Caracas, the 58-year-old lead guitarist detoured to a hospital for emergency knee surgery, forcing the Hall of Fame band to cancel what would have been its first gig in the country.

A band rep says Perry had a total knee replacement last March. But due to complications, he required a second operation, stat.The "Sweet Emotion" purveyors are planning to reschedule the concert as soon as Perry's bum knee heals and the band has room on its calendar.“Playing Venezuela was my idea of a perfect way to start the New Year," frontman Steven Tyler said in a statement. "But having heard Joe had to revisit the hospital this month, the band are truly disappointed we can’t be in Caracas, and we hope to see everyone there soon.”

I'm Not Leaving Aerosmith

Relax, Aerosmith fans: Steven Tyler says he isn't leaving the band.
Tyler made a surprise appearance with guitarist Joe Perry and his band Tuesday night at a New York City venue. Tyler told the crowd: "I am not leaving Aerosmith."
Rolling Stone and Billboard magazines report the two then launched into their song "Walk This Way."
The appearance seemed to put an end to speculation about the band's future.
Perry currently tweeted that Aerosmith was "looking for a new singer to work with" and told the Las Vegas Sun that Tyler had quit, as far as he could tell.
The 61 year old Tyler was injured when he fell off a stage during an Aug. 5 performance in South Dakota, and the band canceled the remainder of its summer tour.

According to the band guitarist Jeo Perry, Steven Tyler has quit Aerosmith.
It comes just months after the singer spoke out publicly to dismiss reports the band was on the verge of splitting following a year of cancelled tour dates, injuries and accidents.
In August, Tyler broke his shoulder after falling off stage while performing in South Dakota, and the group was forced to scrap the remainder of its summer tour.
Perry admitted that following the accident he and Tyler didn't speak for more than a month, prompting rumours the band's future was in jeopardy.
And it seems fans' fears were justified guitarist Perry has revealed his pal has left the rock group after its performance as part of the Formula One racing season's final weekend in Abu Dhabi last weekend.
He tells the Las Vegas Sun, "Steven quit as far as I can tell. I don't know any more than you do about it. I got off the plane two nights ago. I saw online that Steven said that he was going to leave the band. I don't know for how long, indefinitely or whatever. Other than that, I don't know."
Perry claims the discord in the band is down to Tyler's lack of communication, including his failure to return phone calls: "He's notorious for that. That's one thing I've learned to live with. I try to overlook it. I like to pick my battles.
"Frankly, the last few months I've been wanting not to rock the boat. I don't want him cancelling any more gigs. We actually wanted to do these last four. We just kind of didn't want to call him out or anything and get him anymore p**sed off, for whatever reason. So we just let things lie. So we did the gigs and, like I said, I got off the plane and saw this online. That's how I know about it... He has had no contact with me or the other band members."
But Perry is determined to continue with Aerosmith, even if Tyler refuses to return.
He adds, "Right now I'm adjusting to how we're going to go on. Aerosmith is such a powerful band, I mean it's like a steam locomotive. You just can't disregard 40 years of four guys who play together as well as they do. We're just trying to - at least I am - trying to figure out what direction the band should take.
"As far as replacing Steve, it's not just about that, it's also four guys that play extremely well together, and I'm not going to see that go to waste. I actually don't know what path it's going to take at this point, but we'll probably find somebody else that will sing in those spots where we want a singer and then we'll be able to move the Aerosmith up a notch, move the vibe up a notch."

Troubled Times For Aerosmith

The future of Aerosmith has come into question by a current post on Classic Rock’s website. Steven Tyler confirms that he is thinking of embracing a solo project in 2010. “I don’t know what I’m doing yet, but it’s definitely going to be something Steven Tyler,” says the iconic frontman. “Working on the brand of myself – Brand Tyler.”

At the moment the future is an open book and over the next couple of weeks the band will reconvene (probably sans Tyler) to discuss future plans, which could be either the announcement of a long hiatus or even possibly include carrying on with a new lead vocalist.
Guitarist Brad Whitford revealed:
“I’m not sure how good that would look, it would largely depend on who we could get and who would want to do it. That’s big shoes to fill.
“Nobody could replace Steven or imitate him – he’s one of a kind. But if somebody was willing to do it and the chemistry was right, why not?”

AEROSMITH rocker STEVEN TYLER is cleaning out his closet for charity, the opportunity giving fans to own clothing items he has worn. Sell for T-shirts will Julien’s Auctions, suits and memorabilia Tyler has donated in New York on 21 November (09). The cash raised will benefit the MusiCares MAP Fund, which provides addiction recovery resources to musicians in need. Tyler, a former MusiCares MAP Fund honouree - for his efforts to assist other addicts on their journey to recovery - says, "This is a personal gesture - a way for me to literally dive into my closet and give back. "Even my skivvies are going up for auction in support of MusiCares." And he has recruited a bunch of famous friends, like Sir Paul MCCartney, Ron Wood, and Metallica star James Hetfield to help him raise charity cash by donating items for the Hard Rock Cafe auction. MCCartney has offered up a signed Hofner Bass and Wood has donated a painting.

AEROSMITH played their first shows since early August, when an injury to singer Steven Tyler ended the band's summer tour, on Sunday (October 18) in Honolulu and Tuesday (October 20) in Maui, Hawaii. The Maui gig was done partly to settle a class-action lawsuit filed by enraged fans when the band canceled a 2007 concert there. The shows come during a tense time for the veteran act, with Joe Perry claiming in recent interviews that Tyler has not spoken to the rest of the group since breaking his shoulder in a fall from a stage in Sturgis, South Dakota two months ago.Perry, who released a solo effort called "Have Guitar, Will Travel" earlier this month, has indicated in current interviews that Tyler is holding up AEROSMITH's future plans, including the recording of a new album. Perry told the Associated Press that Tyler has "got to get his act together."The Honolulu Advertiser saw no sign of tension between Tyler and Perry on Sunday night, adding that Tyler "took every chance to sidle up next to Perry . . . and declared he 'loved' the guys in the band.
