Aerosmith: Joe Perry’s bump of Steven Tyler was intentional

Aerosmith representative has vehemently denied reports Joe Perry purposely shoved his bandmate Steven Tyler off stage during a gig in Canada insisting the mishap was an accident.

Canada on Tuesday night shows Tyler lightly bumping into Perry as he plays guitar on a runway extended from the main stage.

Aerosmith rock 'n' roll partner axman Joe Perry put the blast on yesterday for learning about frontman Steven Tyler’s alleged “American Idol” gig on the Web.
“I found out on the Internet like the rest of the world,” said the guitarist when we reached him at the band’s tour stop in Dallas yesterday about “Idol” rumors about Steven.
“Afterparty Aerosmith at Studio 54 after the Vegas show which none of us in the band knew anything about and he said some stuff there. I mean, this is no small thing.”
Tyler, 40 years who has worked with Perry, told reporters on his way into the post show bash in Sin City that his future plans included “recording an album and (I’m) likely going to be a judge on ‘American Idol.’ ”
He also said, “I’m doing it. What do you think? I’m doing it.”
For the record, the “American Idol” producers haven’t confirmed the group of new judges that will replace Ellen DeGeneres and “Idol” major domo Simon Cowell. An announcement is expected in mid September, the Fox TV suits told critics the other day.
Perry said in his dressing room he conformed Steven before the band’s show at the MGM Grand Saturday night about the “American Idol” buzz. Tyler said he was instructed not to discuss it, said Perry.
“I mean, after working with me for 40 years, he couldn’t tell me about this,” the axman told the Track. “Why so secretive? We’re told it’s a done deal. If Steven is committed to a TV show, that kind of affects the rest of us. We’d like to plan our lives, ya know?”
After the not so heated convo backstage, Perry said, as usual, the band “pulled out all the stops” and gave the fans “what they have come to expect from us.”
And that’s exactly what Aerosmith plans to do on Aug. 14, when the Boston Bad Boys rock Fenway Park (map) with the J. Geils Band as their opening act.
“It will be epic and unforgettable - at least for me,” laughed Joe. “I can’t wait to hear J. Geils.”
In current years, Tyler, who has battled injuries and pill addiction, has become estranged from the band and has gone so far as to hire his own manager as well as his own publicist.
When Steven the tipping point came last summer, who was Livin’ on the Edge with a variety of pain medications, fell off the stage during a concert at a motorcycle rally in Sturgis, S.D., breaking his shoulder.
Tyler’s tumble forced the band to cancel its 2009 tour and Aerosmith nearly fell to pieces over the next few months the rest of the band vowed to go “on strike” - until Steven got sober.
Before entering rehab for a prescription addiction at Christmastime, Steven announced he wanted to take a two year hiatus from the band and work on “Brand Tyler.” The rest of the band Perry, Tom Hamilton, Joey Kramer and Brad Whitford fired back by threatening to replace the frontman with a new singer.
In February, the Bad Boys and their various reps had a high powered powwow at an undisclosed location and decided to get Back in the Saddle. The Fenway Park gig was announced, a month later.

Continues Tour To Aerosmith

The celebrated rock band, Aerosmith, seems to have fashioned over the last year a lot of buzz. The rumor mills are targeting them, regarding upcoming shows as well as tours. Some have even questioned the legendary front man Steven Tyler’s devotion to the band.
During Tyler’s absence Joe Perry, lead guitarist sort of, knew about Tyler’s return. However, a new singer he did want to audition who would be more devoted to the band.

Perry freed his fans by saying that they haven’t recruited anyone to replace Tyler. Most fans claimed that without Steven Tyler, it wouldn’t even be Aerosmith.
Tyler finally made his expected comeback after he spent time in the rehab to get rid of his addiction to painkillers. He also made a declaration concerning the dispute that the band suffered throughout his absence. However, everything seems better now, since the band is playing better than before.

Aerosmith: Perry 'Lucky' He Was Unhurt In Bike Accident

AEROSMITH guitarist JOE PERRY is in shock following his motorcycle crash, because he can't believe how "lucky" he was to escape the smash without injury.
The rocker was taken to hospital last week (15Jul10) after his bike was struck by a car at traffic lights in Taunton, Massachusetts.
Bandmate Tom Hamilton spoke out to reassure fans the star was fine, confirming that Perry was "sore" but "doing good".
And Perry is thankful he was left unhurt unlike his "smashed up" bike.
Perry tells RollingStone.com, "Next thing I know, I'm on Tarmac looking up at the sky. This woman behind me just didn't slow down at the light. She was going 25-30 miles per hour and just rear ended me. Everything on the bike from the engine back is smashed up, but I don't even have a black and blue mark. I can't believe it. I'm just really lucky."
The driver who allegedly struck Perry, 62 year old Linda O'Brien, has been cited for following a vehicle too closely.

Perry's Injury Won't Affect Aerosmith Tour

Aerosmith bassist Tom Hamilton has confirmed guitarist Joe Perry will join the band on its North American tour later this month, just days after he was injured in a motorcycle accident.
Perry sustained unknown injuries after his motorcycle was struck by a car at traffic lights in Taunton, Massachusetts on Thursday.
The rocker, 59, was taken by ambulance to the nearby Morton Hospital and Medical Center where he was treated and released.
But Hamilton insists the band's previously announced tour, which is scheduled to begin on July 23 in Oakland, California, will go on as planned - and Perry is expected to take the stage.
In an interview with Boston's Fox 25 News radio programme on Friday, Hamilton said: "He's doing good. He's a bit sore today, but he's well, and we're looking forward to heading out to the West Coast (on) Wednesday to start doing some touring in the States."
Perry has suffered from knee pain for years and had a total knee replacement operation in 2008.

Tyler himself feels that playing live "rekindles the fire for song writing" and that new material is "coming down the pike."
Perry and Tyler have already started the process and the guitarist adds: "The bottom line is we haven't done our best record yet, and we feel like first of all we owe it to ourselves, and second of all we owe it to our fans."

Tyler back with Aerosmith says band has never been better, After discord, rehab

That's because now that he's back at the helm of the pair belting out songs in front of thousands of fans nothing else matters.
"The band has never been better, I'm singing better," said an energetic Tyler in a current phone interview. "It's been beautiful and I realized when I was taking care of my problems that the band is all I actually care about."
Tyler — who is on tour with Aerosmith in Europe and starts a U.S. tour with the band on July 23 in Oakland, Calif. — talked currently about his battle for sobriety, putting the discord behind him and being a "dancing fool" at 62.
AP: What has it been like to play with the band after the tumultuous last year?
Tyler: It's been a great tour. You know it's a little hard for me. Being in Aerosmith is like living on the tail of a comet. I've had a lot of injuries over the last couple of the years. I had ACL reconstruction on my knee ... operations on my feet, my mom passed away. A lot of things came to play that made it easy for me to abuse some things. ... Even though some of the people in the band were going public with some of the stuff which turned very ugly, I managed to pull it all back together again and say, "Look, let's just get out there and be the band that we know we are and not argue about this crap anymore."
AP: How easy was that after the ugliness?
Tyler: I realize that certain people that decide to go in the press with dirty laundry, I just have to look the other way and realize I need to keep my side of the street clean, and they do what they do. It's actually unfortunate that certain people were Twittering and going to the press. It got really ugly, but you know, again, I just went back to them and I said ... "More than anything, I really want to play with this band. I really love this band and I love who I've become because of the band." ... Everyone's got their problems and their demons, but when we get onstage and play as five, that really all goes away, and that's really all I look at now.
AP: There has been tension in Aerosmith throughout the years. Are you still able to be friends as well as bandmates?
Tyler: I'm doing a book called "Does the Noise in My Head Bother You," and I will be speaking about what it's like to be married to four other guys, and what I've had to put up with. ... There will never be another band like Aerosmith, and I just don't want to do anything to hurt that. I love the band so much.
AP: You are in pain and have battled back from an addiction to pain medicines. How do you prevent yourself from falling into past patterns on this new tour?
Tyler: I realize that the best part of me is who I am sober so that's all there is to it. ... I don't know whether I will use tomorrow, but today I'm glad. ... There's a 500 pound gorilla on my back, waiting in the parking lot for me that wants to take me down, and I won't for any reason go out there and deal with that. I have to get a knee replacement, I have to have another operation on my feet, and I'll let a nurse take care of my stuff. I just can't be around that stuff anymore. I need to be a power of example for my bandmates, don't I? (laughs)... I'm still in Aerosmith so the circus is still in town. So when it comes to dealing with the band, I take it a day at a time with these guys.
AP: Is a new Aerosmith album coming?
Tyler: The truth is I've never stopped writing. I've got 12 songs I'm sitting on right now for a solo record. Aerosmith has to finish a studio album; we're gonna do that first.
AP: Do you feel that you are more careful onstage now? Are you tentative?
Tyler: I'm a dancing fool out there. I'm my own worst enemy when it comes to risk taking, but I do what I do. ... I am (more careful) when it's raining. I don't do anything ... I'm real careful when it comes to that. But ordinarily, I've gotten real strong jumping over all the pedals my guitar players have out there in the middle of the stage and the monitor wedges. It's like a little hurdle out there for me.
AP: Can you see yourself doing this 10, 15 years from now?
Tyler: I'll be doing this 20 years from now. I'll be doing this as long as sound comes out of my mouth.
